In 2016, with the support of Chinese Embassy in Maldives, China-Maldivian Cultural Association (CMCA) launched Maldives Youth Visit China as its Flagship Program and set the theme as "Cultural Understanding, Everlasting Friendship". 

Writing competitions were held to select participants annually, largely depending on candidates’ experience with other cultures & how useful they felt about understanding Chinese culture. CMCA also organized Orientation Workshops before their departure for China.  

Since the launching of the Program, over 75 youths aged 14-17 from 10 atolls have visited Beijing, Harbin, Xi’an, Shanghai, Chengdu, Ya’an, Nanjing, Suzhou, & Yangzhou, experiencing cold winter, climbing the Great Wall  & visiting historical sites. 

During their visits, Maldivian youths received warm hospitality from Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Beijing Youth Federation, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Shaanxi Hang Tan Cultural Creative Institute, Jiangsu Friendship Association,Sichuan Friendship Association, Suzhou Foreign Affairs Office & Yangzhou Polyethnic College.  

In addition to the above-mentioned 75 youths from 10 atolls, 25 students from Maldives National University, Villa College and Mandhu College visited China in 2018 and 2019 under the Program and enjoyed friendly exchanges with their Chinese counterparts.

Youths are the backbone and future of China-Maldives friendship. Look forward to more exchanges between the youths of our two countries, which will help enhance mutual understanding and foster everlasting friendship.
