China’s Solar Energy Power Cooperation Projects in Maldives

In January 2014, Thinadhoo Solar Energy Power Station, the first experimental solar energy project of the Maldivian Government, was inaugurated, providing 50% of electricity supply on the island.



In March 2018, the 1.5MW solar power station in Hulhumalé, constructed by CMEC, was put into operation to provide power for 56 buildings and a mosque with an average monthly output of 230,000 KW.


                      



On 30th April & 24th May 2017, the AgreementsonImplementing PV-ESS-Diesel Generator Hybrid Power Plants in Haa Alifu Atoll and Haa Dhaalu Atoll, constructed by Trina Solar from China, were signed respectively to help the Maldives achieve the "2030 carbon neutral" goal.




On 30th September 2018, the hybrid power plants in 14 islands in Haa Alifu Atoll was completed, producing 3910000KWh renewable electricity each year while saving 1303000L diesel and reducing 3050 tons CO2 emission.


                      


On 27th April 2022, the hybrid power plants in 13 islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll was completed, producing 5950000KWh renewable electricity each year while saving 1983000L Diesel and reducing 4641 tons CO2 emission.
