On October 11, 2018, the "My Story with China" Forum was held in Male, aiming to build a platform for Maldivian friends who have lived in or visited China to share their stories with China.
The event was well attended and Maldivians from all walks of life came together and enjoyed the story-sharing moment. It was just like old friends coming home!
Participants shared their unique stories with China. @RasheedMDV, former Maldivian ambassador to China, recalled his memories of China dating back to 1971, when he was the first Maldivian exchange student in China. Dr. Shameem, former CSC President, also shared his experience of the first International Youth Year in China as early as 1985.
Dr. Adeel Shareef, doctor of ADK Hospital, showed pictures of his studies at Dalian Medical University, which he’d always cherish. Aishath Huda, artist and teacher at Maldives National University, stressed that she’s taken China as her second hometown after 6 years of study at China Academy of Art.
Maldivian youth who participated in annual exchange program expressed their love for China in a song. In the melody of famous Chinese song “Jasmine”, memories came back in everyone’s mind: the view of the Great Wall, the sense of a snowflake, the shake of a train... all are real and memorable.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between China and Maldives. Let’s carry forward the good spirit of these memorable stories and together build much closer, stronger and more amicable relations between our two people.
