Media serves as an important bridge for friendly exchanges and people-to-people connectivity. Media exchanges and cooperation are an integral part of China-Maldives relations, playing an irreplaceable role in promoting China-Maldives relations by spreading information, reducing misgivings, enhancing mutual understanding, deepening friendship, and promoting cultural exchanges.

On 25 August 2022, H.E. Ambassador Wang Lixin met with Mr. Mohamed Shafaau Hassan, President of Maldives Media Council. Both sides exchanged views on media cooperation, capacity building, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Maldives diplomatic ties.

On 26 October 2022, H.E. Ambassador Wang Lixin met with Ms. Mariyam Waheeda, President of Maldives Broadcast Commission, discussing on broadcast exchange & cooperation and personnel training in the future.

China attaches great importance to media cooperation & exchanges with Maldives. Before the pandemic, Chinese Embassy invited Maldivian journalists to visit China annually, helping Maldivian journalists know more about China and introduce China to Maldivian people.

On 24 September, 2016, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China held discussions with the visiting delegation of Maldivian journalists regarding the role of media in further enhancing people-to-people relations, the ways to promote trade relations, and culture and tradition of both countries.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China & Maldives diplomatic relations. We would like to further enhance media cooperation of the two sides, taking this opportunity to promote friendly exchanges between the two countries and two peoples.
